Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
Mission Statement: To recruit and maintain a trained and ready force of medical and support volunteers who are prepared to perform tasks as needed to respond to a public health emergency in the City of Richmond, VA.

The Medical Reserve Corps is a national program, which is headquartered in the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General. The need for trained supplemental medical and public health personnel to assist with emergency operations was highlighted after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The Richmond City MRC is open to both healthcare professionals and non-healthcare volunteers as well.

In addition MRCs are asked to participate in annual emergency response exercises.

Activites may include:
Providing vaccinations or antibiotics to Richmond City residents
Staffing emergency shelters, special needs shelters and alternate care facilities
